Check out this great podcast. It's an address by Tokasin Ghosthorse, a Lakota Sioux man, talking about the Lakota way of viewing the Universe and our place in it (and aliens, and the Earth, and lots of other fascinating things). The host of the podcast, Jeremy Vaeni, rambles and rants annoyingly for the first 15 or 20 minutes, but once you get past that, you will hear something truly remarkable. Maybe the best and most important speech I have ever heard.

I started to listen, and your right:

I tuned out too soon...though, prepared with that knowledge...I have embarked once again. This time I have resigned to twiddling my thumbs for the first half hour. (or fast-forwarding)
But, I'll get through it, because you said it was that good....and I trust in your judgment.

OK...I waded my way through the BS at the beginning.
BTW...don't listen to this while the kids are around if you want to shelter them from derogatory language. (if that's possible)
I have a question, and I'm gonna write it now...while it's fresh.
Is there a Lakota word for "monkey"?...I'd be surprised if there is.
anyway...still listening....

By the way, Rareheart, if you right-click and download the podcast, you can open it up in Quicktime, and scroll past the first 21:45 or so, and you'll skip all of Vaeni's rantings.

Hehehehe...drack.
Monkeys don't live in North America...to my knowledge...that's why I asked that Q. Why should they have a word for it?
The Hawaiian language has no word for weather...because it's always the same. While Eskimos have quite a few words to describe snow (imagine that...lol)

Hey renfield , I get a c: runtime error, something is trying to open the runtime file incorrectly, is this because I do not have quicktime installed? I had it once , but it is such a pain in the pc, takes too much resources and memory. Maybe I will get the quicktime alternative from file hippo. Anyone else get this error? Inewit

Rareheart ~ you are right before the white man came they did not have a word for monkey.
after the white man came they have added 1000s of new words to their vocabulary. the same with the white man there are many Indian words used every day in the American language.

Excuse my exuberant last post, must have been the grapevine.
Yes drack, and many a white man gained employment playing Indians, except for the Sam Peckinpah films, he was the first to use actual Indians in film, not painted white men..

my box didn't play it and didn't open the download. it wanted me to find a program to open it
and that led me to a free download of 'RegCure' which I didn't do because of the last free download of a regstry fixer that isn't, and won't uninstall from mrs sheltech's comp.
suggestions ?. (dammit jim, I'm a metalsmith , not a computer scientist !)

Oh man, I did that once, don't ever download anything that says <Free Download>, it is a bait and hook technique. Yes the download is free, but to activate or register the software for full functions you have to buy the damn thing. Not to say regcure would not be a good registry cleaner, but I don't like these techniques.
Always check to see if it is shareware or freeware, a free download is not free.
I had a hell of a time getting regcure off my system once, had to edit the registry, the prefetch files and the system32 files, oh and the folder that is always left in Program Files when a program is deleted!!!!
Live and learn, or screw up again.
